Depending upon the default width of a column, column content may not be fully displayed within a grid in the Aeon Desktop Client. You can change the column margins of your grids, either manually or by using the Best Fit features, to better display column content.
Changing the Column Margins Manually
To manually change a column's width, click on the column header and drag the column separator to the desired width.
Using the Best Fit Options
The Best Fit features allow you to change the width of one column or all columns simultaneously to fit column content. Based on the number of columns, the size of column data, and the maximum width of the grid, applying best fit may cause the columns to exceed the width of the form. Using the scroll bar at the bottom of the grid allows you to scroll the grid horizontally to see columns not visible in the window.
Adjusting the Width of One Column
To adjust the width of one column:
- Right-click on the column header and select Best Fit from the grid customization form.
Adjusting the Width of All Columns
To adjust the width of all columns:
- Right-click any column header and select Best Fit (all columns) from the grid customization form.
- The columns will resize to their best fit.
If a grid in the desktop client (such as the grid on the Activities tab) does not allow column resizing, you may need to restore the form to the system default by right-clicking on a grid header and selecting Restore System Default. After restoring the grid to system default Aeon will allow you to adjust the width of the columns.
Using the Scroll Bar
Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the grid to scroll the grid horizontally to view columns that are outside of the form margins and therefore not visible on the form. There are two ways to scroll grids:
- You can click on the arrows in the scroll bar to move the grid to the right or the left.
- You can click and hold the right arrow and left arrow on your keyboard to scroll the grid to the right or left.
On grids where the selection is by row rather than by cell, the arrow key needs to be held down for a moment before it begins to scroll. Grids that allow you to focus individual cells will begin to scroll immediately.
