Ares is designed to manage all aspects of your library's reserves operation and is used to process both print and electronic reserves items. Items are submitted by instructors or a designated proxy, either manually or through OpenURL, or are entered manually in the client by reserves staff. Reserve item requests are then processed for delivery through workflow groups called queues. How the item is supplied to the reserves staff and how it will be made available to students determines the starting queue and workflow process for an item. The basics of the process are explained below.
Note that the instructions here use the layout, design, and workflow of the default Ares client. If you have customized the processing workflow and/or layout in Ares, there may be differences in the movement through workflow queues and the names and placements of forms and fields.
