Once items have been successfully checked in from the Lender, you can print labels to go with the items. Depending on the nature of the items requested and your institutional policies for Interlibrary Loan, you may wish to print some or all of the following standard ILLiad print documents:
- Article Labels - BorrowingArticleLabels.doc
- Loan Labels - BorrowingLoanLabels.doc
- Loan Slips - BorrowingLoanSlips.doc
In addition, you may create and use any other institution-specific documents that you wish. These documents are all customizable.
Printing in ILLiad uses Microsoft Word printer templates. These are standard mail merge files, using Microsoft Excel files to export data from ILLiad. The instructions here assume that you have specified Edit and Prompt settings for these documents in the Print Configuration screen.
Printing Labels
- From the Borrowing ribbon, in the Receive Requests group, click Print Receives.
- The received items will be moved to the print queue and the ILLiad Client will open the print documents associated with the Received From Lending Library print process.
- The documents associated with a particular ILLiad print process are set by the institution through the Customization Manager.
- The ILLiad Client will open each document based on the transactions to be printed. Thus, if no articles have been checked in, any designated article-specific documents will not open.
- Based on settings in the Print Configurations screen, the ILLiad Printer Settings popup window for the template will display before the document template and Word file are opened.
Loan Labels
BorrowingLoanLabels.doc and the associated Word file will open if any of the received items are loans. The document template will look similar to the end product, but the information will not be displayed correctly. Field names will be displayed instead of the data. Use the associated Word file to make any changes or edits to your document. There is no need to merge the document before printing - this has been done automatically.
Print this new Word document like you would any other word processing document. If you have a printer set up specifically for this type of label printing, be sure that you print to this printer. If you have printer trouble while printing, you can print again from this document once the problem is corrected. You do not have to re-export the data from ILLiad.

After Printing
When you have successfully printed each document, close the template and the document without saving them. Refresh the ILLiad Main Page by clicking the refresh button. You will see that the transactions just printed have automatically been cleared from the print queue and are now in the Awaiting Customer Contact queue.
