Sharing Activity Information Using iCalendar

Print Friendly and PDF Follow

You can share Activity information with your researchers and others using the Export Calendar command on the Activity Information form.

Overview

You can share Activity information with your researchers and others using the Export Calendar command on the Activity Information form.

This feature uses the iCalendar protocol, supported by many major calendar and schedule applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar and Apple iCal.

Clicking the Export Calendar button allows you to save an iCalendar file that you can send to researchers and Activity participants.

The recipient of the file can then load the Activity into their calendar or schedule program.

Included in the file are the Activity date, time, location and description information as provided from the Activity Information form.

Researchers can also download the calendar from the web using links on the Activities and Activity Information forms.

How It Works

To use the iCalendar feature from the client to share Activity information:

  1. Click the Export Calendar icon located on the Home ribbon of the Activity Information form to open a save file dialog box.
  2. Save the iCalendar file by using the Save button on the dialog box. The file name, assigned according to Activity number (e.g., Activity14) can be changed before saving.
  3. Once you have saved the file you can sent it via email. The recipient can then add the Activity to their calendar or schedule program.
