Resolving Mail Merge Errors
Potential Error #1
In the Aeon client, if you attempt to print a callslip or other document you may see the following error message:
"The OpenDataSource method or property is not available because this command is not available for reading."
To resolve this error:
- Open a blank document in Microsoft Word.
- Click on the File tab and choose Options at the bottom of the menu.
- When the Options window opens, navigate to the bottom section and uncheck the box for Open email attachments and other uneditable files in reading view.
- Close the Options menu and exit Microsoft Word.
Potential Error #2
After updating to Microsoft Word version 2211 or above, attempting to print from the Aeon Client triggers the following error message:
"The OpenDataSource method or property is not available because a macro is currently running."
To resolve this error:
Aeon Client v5.0.5/5.1.9 introduced a new default mail merge method to resolve the printing error caused by the Microsoft Word update. Please update your Aeon Client to v5.0.x/5.1.x to implement the new mail merge method and resolve this error.
Enabling Legacy Mail Merge Functionality
After updating to Aeon Client v5.0.5/5.1.9, the new default mail merge method will be enabled by default. The legacy mail merge method can be re-enabled via the Aeon Client Options form for troubleshooting purposes if new printing errors are encountered after updating:
- Click on the Main Menu Icon(
) at the top of the Aeon Client window

Click the Options button:
- The Aeon Options window opens

Under Print Settings, check the Use Legacy Mail Merge option:
- Click OK to close the Options form
- Re-attempt to print your document(s) from the Aeon Client
