Navigating the Aeon Web Client

The Aeon Web Client displays a navigation menu and a toolbar on each page with various navigation and menu options. On larger screen sizes, the navigation menu will appear at the left side of the web client screen, while on smaller screen sizes it will be located stacked horizontally above the toolbar across the top of the page. Some of the options available in the navigation menu and toolbar will vary depending on which web client page is currently open. This article will detail the options available in each of these interfaces and how to use them.

Using the Navigation Menu

The navigation menu appears on the left side of each web client page on large screen sizes and at the top of each web client page on small screen sizes.

Navigation Menu Options

  1. Aeon Icon: Click to navigate to the Aeon Web Client Dashboard.
  2. Menu Icon: Expands or collapses the navigation menu on the current web client page.
  3. New User: Click to navigate to the new user page used to create a new user record.
  4. Calendar: Click to navigate to the appointment calendar page used to view and manage appointments in the Aeon Web Client. This option will only display when appointment functionality has been configured in the Aeon Customization Manager.
  5. Page Navigation: Jump to a section on the current web client page. This section will only display if page navigation is available on the current page.
  6. Help & Support: Expands the Help & Support menu. This menu contains the following options:


Using the Toolbar

The toolbar appears at the top of each web client page and contains several menus, the search bar, and information for various system alerts.

Toolbar Options

  1. Breadcrumbs: Displays which page of the web client is currently open. Clicking the home icon (home Icon.png) will return you to the Dashboard.
  2. Search Button: Expands the search bar used to perform a search on requests, users, and activities
  3. Email Icon: Displays the number of failed emails sent from the Aeon system, if any.

    Only the number of failed emails will be displayed in the Aeon Web Client. The Aeon Desktop Client must be used to view a complete, detailed list of the emails that have failed and to process or resend them. See Troubleshooting Email for more information.
  4. User Icon: Displays the number of users awaiting clearance, if any.

    Only the number of users awaiting clearance will be displayed in the Aeon Web Client. The Aeon Desktop Client must be used to view a complete, detailed list of which users need to be cleared. See the desktop client documentation in the Clearing Users article for more information.
  5. Action Menu: Expands the Action menu containing the available actions for the current web page. This menu currently only displays on the User Information page.
  6. User Menu: Expands the User menu containing the following options: 
    • Accessibility Settings: Opens the Accessibility Settings window with the following options (note that clearing the cache on your web browser will reset these settings to their default values): 
      • Hide Loading Animations? (default: No): Set to Yes to disable the spinning circle animation displayed above the "Loading" text on grids and the calendar page.
      • Notification Duration (default: 2 seconds) Sets the number of seconds that pop-up notifications will be displayed in the Aeon Web Client (e.g., the "User Profile Saved" notification that appears when saving changes to a user's record).
    • Theme Settings: Opens the Theme Settings window from which you can switch between the light (default) and dark themes for the Aeon Web Client. The selected theme will be remembered by your web browser between sessions (note that clearing the cache on your web browser will reset the theme to the default setting). 
    • Select Sites: Opens the Sites window from which you can select which site group is displayed by the Aeon Web Client. This option only displays if the currently logged-in staff user is assigned to multiple site groups
      • Click on a site group to expand and view the list of the individual sites within that group.
      • To change the site group currently displayed by the web client, select a new site group from the Active Site Group dropdown and click Update.

        In addition to standard keyboard controls, several additional controls are supported for use in the Sites window. For more information, see Additional Keyboard Controls for Navigating and Using the Aeon Web Client.

    • Staff Administration: Opens the Staff Administration page. This option only displays if the currently logged-in staff user has been assigned Staff Manager access permissions in the Aeon Staff Manager.
    • Logoff: Click to log out of the Aeon Web Client.
