With the ILLiad/Aeon Web Platform configuration, you are able to receive requests from ILLiad directly into the Aeon Desktop Client. Most of the processing in Aeon resembles a normal request as the communications with ILLiad is behind the scenes.
Note: Request processing functionality is currently only supported in the Aeon Desktop Client and cannot be performed from the Aeon Web Client.
Receiving Loan Requests from ILLiad
- Once it is processed in ILLiad, the request will come into the queue Awaiting Request Processing like other loan requests.
- Follow the standard Aeon processing workflow as you would with other loan requests.
- If the item in unavailable or if you cannot loan or provide copies of the item, Cancel the request. The Interlibrary Loan office will receive this response and the reason for cancellation will appear in ILLiad for the ILL staff to see.
- If the item is available, retrieve the item and click Place On Hold. A popup box will appear that will ask if the item can be shipped to another library.
- If you will this item to be shipped to another library, click Yes. The Interlibrary Loan office will receive this response. Coordinate with the ILL office to determine how the loan will get from Special Collections to the ILL office.
- If you will not allow the item to be shipped but will allow copies of the item, click No. The Interlibrary Loan office will receive this response. Coordinate with the ILL office to determine how the copy will be made.
Receiving Photoduplication Requests from ILLiad
- Once it is processed in ILLiad, the request will come into the queue Awaiting Order Processing like other copy/phototduplication requests.
- Follow the standard Aeon processing workflow as you would with other copy requests.
- If the item in unavailable or if you cannot provide the requested copy, Cancel the request. The Interlibrary Loan office will receive this response and the reason for cancellation will appear in ILLiad for the ILL staff to see.
- If the item is available and you are able to provide a copy, once you click Item Delivered the Interlibrary Loan office will receive a response in ILLiad that the copy is available.
