Summary of Issue

New requests fail to successfully download from OCLC/WorldShare and existing requests are not updated. The following error message appears in the Connection Manager logs:

Error: Connection Manager error - "Exception: 151: HTTP protocol error. 401 ."

Cause of Issue

This error occurs when an individual site or sites on a shared server ILLiad instance have cancelled their OCLC/WorldShare ILL service, but have not subsequently disabled the ILLiad Connection Manager service for their site in the ILLiad Customization Manager. These errors can keep other requests from downloading and updating for other sites on the shared server that still have a valid OCLC/WorldShare ILL subscription.

Resolution

To resolve this error, each site that has cancelled its OCLC/WorldShare ILL service should update its ConnectionManagerActive customization key value in the ILLiad Customization Manager to No to disable the Connection Manager service for that site. After this key value is changed, requests should resume downloading and updating as normal for the other sites on the server.
