Atlas BI Basics

Similar to other Atlas products, Atlas BI offers different levels of permissions for users. These permissions can be modified under the Manage tab, using the Role dropdown. Atlas BI supports the following permission levels for user accounts:

  • Administrator: Account management, report management, and
  • Contributor: Report manager and viewing only
  • Viewer: Viewing only
  • None: No access to Atlas BI

The list of the users displayed in the Manage tab corresponds to the staff accounts configured in the Staff Manager. To add a new user to Atlas BI, you must first configure that user's account in the Staff Manager. If that user has Staff Manager and Customization Manager access permissions assigned to their account in the Staff Manager, Atlas BI will default that user's permissions to Administrator upon their first login and they will immediately have access to Atlas BI. Users without these permissions configured in the Staff Manager will appear in the Manage tab in Atlas BI with a default role of None. An administrator must then change the user's role to Viewer, Contributor, or Administrator to grant that user access to Atlas BI.

Note that the only staff users who can access the Manage tab in Atlas BI are those with the Administrator role. This role is set automatically for users upon their first login to Atlas BI if the user has Staff Manager and Customization Manager access permissions assigned to their account in the Staff Manager. After the first login, this role will not automatically update if the user's permissions are changed in the Staff Manager and must be manually updated by an Atlas BI administrator. Staff users without Staff Manager and Customization Manager access permissions set in the Staff Manager can still be granted access to the Manage tab by an administrator if necessary by assigning them Administrator permissions in Atlas BI.

There are many different filters that allow users to manipulate the data that appears in the reports.

Date Range Filters

Each Dashboard(e.g. Reading Room Circulation By Hour) can have several reports such as data tables, graphs, and/or total counts. The date range for the Dashboard can be modified using the Dashboard Parameters. This can be changed by clicking on the (parametet.PNG) icon in the upper right of the Dashboard. The default is 365 days.

The date range for the graphs is determined by the timeline slider. The timeline slider allows you to easily view data from multiple different ranges within the Dashboard Parameters. For example, if you want to easily view the reports for Q1 2017, Q2 2017, and then Q1 through Q4 2017 data without having to change the Dashboard parameters. There are two ways to filter the date parameters on the timeline slider. First, you can click and drag the range on the timeline. Second, you can select the range by clicking on the flag icon (flag.PNG) on the range filter and then selecting the specific date range.

Results Filter

For any grid, pie chart or tree map (multi-colored boxes sized by amount), you can click on a section/row to narrow the results. Some charts offer a multiple-select filter option. Filters can be set by clicking on the filter icon next to the title of each graph. Filters set on a graph will show up in the upper right-hand corner like the picture shown below.

Table/grids can be sorted in ascending or descending order by right-clicking on the headers of any column and choosing the applicable assortment.

Reports can be exported to a PDF, image, or excel spreadsheet by clicking on the export icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Dashboard. When exporting to a spreadsheet, you will be able to fully manipulate the data in Excel (e.g. create pivot tables). You can also export the individual chart images
