Submitting Desktop Client Feedback to Aeon Support

The Aeon Feedback system provides staff with a convenient way to collect Aeon Desktop Client information to send to Aeon support. The Feedback icon, located on the right-hand side of the desktop client, allows you to open the Feedback form from any page in the Aeon Desktop Client. Aeon collects data about the issue from several tabs on the form. When you save the form, the data is transferred to a .zip file that you can easily email to support.

How It Works

Clicking the Feedback button, located on the right-hand side of the desktop client, allows you to open the Feedback form from any page in the Aeon Desktop Client. The form opens to the Details tab, where you enter contact information and comments explaining the issue you are reporting. Located on the Home ribbon of the Details tab is the Submit Options group, which houses the Log File, Screenshot, and System Information toggle icons. The information that is collected for Support is controlled by these icons; they are toggled on by default. When you click the Save button, the Client.log, Screenshot.png and SystemInformation.txt files are bundled into a zip file along with a summary.txt file and XML files. The other tabs house the information that is collected for support according to the toggle icons:

  • Screenshot: a screenshot of the desktop client taken just before the Feedback form was opened
  • Logs: the desktop client logs
  • System Information: basic information about the desktop client workstation that you are using

If the screenshot contains sensitive information that should not be submitted to support, you can edit it using the tools above the screenshot. The edit tools allow you to obscure information by either cropping the form or blocking out specific areas of the form.

Select Allows you to highlight a section of the image for cropping or filling.
Pan Clicking and dragging the mouse allows the image to be dragged around
the window for easier viewing. This is helpful if you have used Zoom to
enlarge the image on your screen.
Zoom Moves the image in or out to allow you to view more or less detail of the
page. Click the left mouse button to zoom in, right mouse button to zoom out.
Best Fit Fits the page into the window so it can be viewed in its entirety.
Fit Height Fits the image to the window according to the image height.
Fit Width Fits the image to the window according to the image width.
Crop Clicking Crop after using the Select tool removes that part of the image
outside the crop parameters. This is useful for removing sensitive information.
Fill Clicking Fill after using the Select tool blocks out that part of the image
inside the crop parameters. This is useful for removing sensitive information.
Undo Allows you to undo your last change to the image.

Saving and Sending the Form

The information that is collected for Support is controlled by the Submit Options toggle icons on the Home ribbon. When you are ready to submit the Feedback form, click the Save button. Aeon packages the information into a .zip archive file (titled AeonFeedbackDate_Time.zip) in the main Aeon folder (program files/Aeon). You can now email this zip file to Aeon Support.
