Accessing Aeon/Ares/ILLiad and Atlas hosted ArchivesSpace if working remotely
We know that many of you are concerned about contingency plans for working remotely due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and have questions about how you can access Atlas products including Aeon, Ares, ILLiad, and hosted ArchivesSpace outside of your institution.
Your local IT staff are your best resource for information on what options are available for remotely accessing your local machine or your network. They can advise if Remote Desktop (RDP) is supported, if you have a VPN option, or if a locally hosted application server is accessible. RDP allows you to login to your staff workstation and run clients remotely. VPN will likely require you to install ILLiad on your home computer and login while connected to your institution’s network. Application servers are an option some locally hosted sites have implemented that do not require local installation of clients.
We recommend testing your remote options from home in advance so that you can work with your local IT folks and Atlas Systems (or OCLC if OCLC hosted for ILLiad) to troubleshoot issues or identify IP addresses that may need to be added to firewalls locally or with your hosting provider.
We are actively monitoring this developing situation and invite you to contact us if there is anything we can do to help you with access to Atlas products or hosted services.
