Printing Errors After the Microsoft Word 2211 Update

Hello ILLiad Users,

Atlas is currently investigating an issue impacting print templates with the following error message: “The OpenDataSource method or property is not available because a macro is currently running.”

Microsoft has confirmed this is a known issue since version 2211 (The OpenDataSource method or property is not available because of a macro - Microsoft Community) and is working to get it resolved. According to Microsoft Support, At this time the only known workaround is to roll back the Office install to 2209. Instructions on doing this can be found at the following link: How to revert to an earlier version of Office - Microsoft Support.

Please note, even if you are not currently experiencing this issue, I recommend saving this message since Microsoft is currently undergoing a phased roll-out of Word version 2211.

We are still working with Microsoft to come up with a solution to this issue. Once I have more details, I will send an update. In the meantime, if you are unable to roll back the Word update, we recommend manually opening the print template and merging it with the data source to create the merged print document each time you need to print from the staff client.

For detailed instructions, please see the documentation and videos below:

If you’d like our support team to assist in walking you through this process or if you’d like some text to send to your IT group to request permission to edit /save print templates, please respond directly to this message.

Thanks,
