SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server-based report generating software system that is used to produce and deliver a variety of interactive and printed reports. It is offered as an installation option with Microsoft SQL Server and can be installed on the server with your database or on a separate server.
The two parts of the SQL Server Reporting Services package are the Report Builder and the Report Manager. You use the Report Builder to create your reports and run them locally using the report server's connection to your database. You can also save or upload your reports to the Report Manager, which resides on the report server, then run and manage them from there. The Report Manager offers several helpful features not in the Report Builder, such as report processing options and subscription services.
Microsoft includes online help documentation for both the Report Builder and the Report Manager. You can also access the Report Builder Help pages by clicking on the question mark icon in the upper right corner of the Report Builder form. Getting Started with Report Builder provides an extensive overview of creating, designing and managing reports.

Editing Default SSRS Reports
If you need assistance editing the default SSRS reports, contact your Customer Service Agent at Atlas Systems directly or by email or phone: email@example.com or 1-800-567-7401 ext. 1.
Many of the Ares default reports use expressions containing IF statements to build the query. Reserve Items by Instructor is one example of a report that uses an expression in the query. In order to edit these reports, you may need to edit the expression based on what you are attempting to change in the report.
- To view and edit a report containing an expression, right-click on the dataset you want to edit and click Dataset Properties. (If a dataset uses an expression, the Query option will be greyed out when you right-click on the dataset.)
- To view the expression, click the fx symbol to the right of the Query box. Then, edit the expression based on the parameters you want for your report.
